The Winds of Change

“Will we all die?” Freddie Asked.

“Yes,” Daniel answered.  “Everything dies.  No matter how big or small, how weak or strong.  We first do our job.  We experience the sun and the moon, the wind and the rain.  We learn to dance and laugh.  Then we die.”

--From “The Fall of Freddie the Leaf” by Leo Buscaglia

During this time, we have been tugged by the winds of change to let things go: to view what is essential and necessary for our lives and living.  The Fall also helps us embrace this time in it’s vibrant bursts of life and hints of the starkness to come into our wintertime here in the Northwest.  For some, you are already in a state of Wintering that can have leave you feeling depleted, lonely or alone.  Please review and take stock of what your internal and external resources are.  Look at your sleeping, eating and movement routines and see if they are really supporting you right now.  If they are seeming spent—look at how you can grow them and focus on building one new connection with a neighbor, organization or practice that will hold you more fully in your daily living.  Just begin with one and practice.  Wait at least 3 weeks to see how it impacts your wellness or vibrance and then decide to add something else or shift your current practice(s).

I also like to ask folxs to see if they can give themselves at least 2% of their brain to a new idea about themselves or, way of being.  Only 2%.  And maybe the idea is, resting calms me or, resting is part of my nature; when I give myself care and attention—I feel more alive—what would that look like in the 2% formula?  Try this and see how it works for you.

Finally, please reach out to connect in services either individually or, within a group.  I am comfortable doing short-term a few sessions or classes to something on-going, reach out and let’s see if we can find ways to bring you greater support and aliveness during this time.

Fall Blessings,

Maiah
